In the film, Cruise plays Jack Harper, a drone mechanic from the year 2077 who crashes landings on an abandoned Earth that has been invaded by aliens. Over the years, the film has acquired a devoted fanbase, and it is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on September 1st.
Oblivion grossed about $285 million worldwide when it was first released in 2013. The film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, in addition to Cruise.
